The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is one of Pakistan’s largest social welfare initiatives, designed to support low-income families and reduce poverty across the country. Launched in 2008, the program has gradually expanded its reach and is now benefiting around 9.3 million families, with plans to extend support to 10 million families by 2025.
Through different schemes, especially the Benazir Kafaalat Program, the government provides financial assistance to deserving households to help them manage daily expenses and improve their living conditions.
Purpose of the BISP Program
The main goal of BISP is to provide financial relief and support long-term stability for low-income families. The program also focuses on empowering women by prioritizing female beneficiaries.
- Financial Support: Helping families manage basic living costs.
- Poverty Reduction: Assisting underprivileged households.
- Women Empowerment: Supporting female-led families.
Quarterly Payment Details
Eligible families receive financial assistance on a quarterly basis:
- Current Payment: Rs. 10,500 per quarter
- Expected Increase: Rs. 12,500 from 2025
Improved Payment System
To improve accessibility and reduce long waiting times, the payment system has been expanded. Previously, most beneficiaries relied on Habib Bank Limited (HBL), which often caused delays due to high traffic.
Now, the system is being improved by involving more banking options, allowing beneficiaries to receive payments more conveniently.
Important Note for Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries should always ensure that they receive payment information through official channels. Avoid responding to unknown messages or calls to prevent fraud.
