Benazir Kafalat Program: Expanding Financial Support for 7 Lakh New Families

The Benazir Kafalat Program is Pakistan’s largest social welfare initiative, designed to offer quarterly cash assistance to women from underprivileged and deserving families. Currently, over 9.3 million women benefit from this program. In a recent decision to further extend this support, Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), announced that 7 lakh new families will be added to the program. This expansion aims to bring vital financial relief to even more women facing economic hardship. Eligibility Criteria for Registration

To ensure that only eligible women receive financial support, the government has set strict criteria. Women applying for the Benazir Kafalat Program must meet the following requirements:

  • Financial Instability: Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship.
  • Permanent Residency: Applicants must be permanent residents of Pakistan.
  • No Overseas Travel: The applicant should have no record of international travel.
  • National ID Requirement: A computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) is required.
  • Family Residency: No family members should be living abroad.
  • Employment Status: The applicant and her family members should not be employed in government positions.
  • Income Limit: Household income must be under Rs. 50,000 per month.
  • Exclusivity: Applicants should not already be receiving benefits from other government-sponsored or social welfare programs.

Is Online Registration Available?

As of now, the Benazir Income Support Program does not offer an online registration option. All applicants must visit a BISP registration center in person to complete the registration process.
